this was my third venture in to a Sabrina Jefferies book series. I was first introduced to her work through the first 3 books of The Duke's Men series, as I began reading her Hellions of Halstead Hall I encountered names and characters and eventually figured out that characters in the Duke's men and Halstead Hall were the same and that I was reading the books in backwards order but I enjoyed 90% of both series and purchased the Swanlea Spinsters series. I am an older, life-experienced reader so my tastes don't necessarily coincide with those of younger readers. I like characters who are depicted more by what they think, than what they do-a bit more tolerant, cynical, satyrical, easy in real & close relationships and comfortable and sure of who they are.That said, Although I found the story line credible, the situations unique and imaginative I found the characters of A Dangerous love a bit extreme - the hero too angry and cautious, the heroine too naive & skeptical, and the characters of the supporting cast had not been developed enough to entice me into purchasing the next installments if I had not already purchased them all at one time from Amazon. Again that said, I am glad I did purchase them because several of the books in the series were very good reading. More on that as I give my impressions for each. I think that these books were her earlier ones and her skills developed as she wrote. I really like the Duke's Men and hope she writes more about them and brings her Hellions into the sleuthings.

Packed with mystery and romance A Dangerous Love is an adventurous read, with a plot that is constantly unfolding keeping readers on the edge of each kiss...I mean page.

Do you have a go-to author? An author that you know can make a bad day great with a bit of witty humor laced in the pages each book? Or an author that makes being odd okay because the heroine is just as odd and she is amazing? Well for me that go-to author Sabrina Jeffries. I fell in love with Sabrina's witty writing style in her Hellion's series and since my love affair with her books began she has yet to disappoint me. I literally have books just lined up on my shelf written by her because I know I can't live without one of her romantic tales more than a few feet away, to comfort me on a bad day. I swear, Sabrina Jeffries was born to write historical romance and she does so flawlessly.

This particular story was gifted to me by my bestie Adria from Adria's Romance Reviews. Big thanks to Adria because these past couple of weeks I have been really stressed out with school, work, and home and the one thing I could look forward to each day was losing myself in the tale of Griff and the un-justice he experienced in his life, and the love he started to form in his heart, with a beautifully odd . I would lie in bed at night after my long stressful day and just be in blissful heaven reading about this man who lost everything because of one bitter old man. I of course won't tell you what he lost you are going to have to pick up this story to find out.

I am a huge fan of a wounded man I think that is why I fell so in love with Griff. I also love hate romances where the two characters start off pretty much hating each other; the chemistry is there but the two lovers want to kill each other just as much as they want to kiss each other. The banter between Griff and Rosalind was hilarious and kept me laughing out loud. The surrounding characters in this book are also amazing. I cannot wait to read each and everyone one of their breakout books!

I recommended this book to lovers of historical romance who love regency. This book is not suitable for younger readers due to some pretty hot and heavy scenes, which I totally enjoyed!
I'm doing some re-reading of Sabrina Jeffries' books this week and I've enjoyed this set more the second time around.

The first in The Swanlea Spinsters Series focuses on self-made man Griff Knighton, who had his legitimacy ripped away from him when he was a young baby by the current Earl of Swanlea. Why? That is the puzzle that will eventually be solved within this storyline.

Although Griff is now the owner of a highly successful trading company, he's never forgotten his early days when he and his mother were belittled for his bastard status. The Earl of Swanlea is now dying and he's decided he can fix some wrongdoing and make sure his daughters' future is secured all in one fell swoop. To this end, he summons Griff to Swanlea Park to persuade him to marry one of his daughters, before he gives up documents proving Griff is the heir to the earldom.

However, Griff has set his own plan in motion. Griff has long known the earldom should have passed to him and he wants his parents' marriage certificate and he doesn't want it tied into marriage to one of the Swanlea Spinsters, lovely though they may be. The girls are Helena, beautiful eldest daughter who is crippled due to a bout with polio, Rosalind, ian extraordinaire, the one who runs the estate and youngest daughter Juliet, who is the beauty of the family and the one the old Earl has picked out for Griff, believing she will be the most tempting morsel.

When Griff sets up his Man of Affairs, Daniel, to switch places with him during their week long visit to Swanlea Park, the book turns into a five star story. Sabrina Jeffries literally has the ability to see into the psyche of the male mind as she portrays Griff's and Daniel's bantering back and forth throughout this storyline. I was delighted at the interaction.

When Rosalind decides to take matters into her own hands and try to block "Daniel" who is really "Griff" from free access to Swanlea Park, she is delightful, annoying and just amazingly "Rosalind." Whoever would have thought the confirmed bachelor Griff, who set out with revenge in mind, would ever be tracked, stalked, maneuvered, and eventually tossed right side up by the frustrating woman? She's the daughter her father kept locked up the first night because he didn't believe she had a chance to catch Griff's attention. She manages to catch his attention and then some. She's a handful and Griff has a very difficult time keeping his hands off her.

So many crazy scenes with great dialogue between Rosalind, Daniel and Griff.
